Michelle meeting Siena from Penguin Random House

The other Friday, I had the opportunity to catch up with Siena from Penguin Random House 🐧📚

It was great to chat to Siena about the success that we have had in improving literacy rates since 2010 📈.

❓ Did you know that in 2012, only 58% of 6 year olds were able to read words fluently.

✅ Thanks to our relentless focus on raising skills and literacy, by 2019, that figure had risen to 82%

As a direct result of the decisions that we have taken over the past 14 years, 89% of schools are now rated as good or outstanding and accordingly to the latest PISA results - we were named among the highest performing Western countries.

During my meeting I also had the chance to thank Siena and Penguin Random House for kindly supporting my Short Story competition this year. I am still going through all the amazing entries this year and watch this space 👀 as I will be contacting the winners in the next few days.
