New powers to protect shop workers

I know that local residents are worried about an increase of crime - especially in our shops and after what recently happened in Melksham.

Not only have I recently caught up with Philip Wilkinson for Wiltshire and Swindon PCC and the Chief of Wiltshire Police to discuss this - we have also announced 3 extra measures that we are taking to crack down on crime, protect our shops and shop workers from harm.

🎥 Equipping our police with mobile units that have live facial recognition 📸 which will help them track down perpetrators and prevent crime.

🛒 Making assaulting a shop worker a standalone criminal offence.

âš¡Mandating serial offenders to wear electronic tags - so we can clamp down on repeat offenders who are targeting our shops

If re-elected, Philip Wilkinson for Wiltshire and Swindon PCC has made it one of his top priorities to continue tackling retail crime and anti-social behaviour. I hope that we can count on your support on Thursday 2 May.
